The jaw and vertebrae of an extinct Siberian tiger, as well as relics of the ancient Egyptian civilization are alongside a pile of plastic bottles, the much spoken about current threat of extinction of life in our seas.
This was created during “Good Artists Copy; Great Artists Steal “ at Slade School of Fine Art summer school 2018 .
Liz Rideal, led the course , with the group visiting various museums and galleries each morning and having studio time at the Slade each afternoon.
There was no guarantee of a completed piece by the end of the course ..we were challenged to do something different from our usual styles.
Liz highlighted aspects of art practice like choosing an icon, considering space/ display , style, size We copied and “stole” some ideas to add to a single painting over the week and made it our own.
